My Path

I began my career as an academic researcher in 1986. From that time, and for 15 years, I worked in the field of health psychology, community health, and psychoneuroimmunology (the study of the mind-body connection) at various universities in Ottawa and California. In that time I published over 40 articles, some in high profile medical journals, developed several community based programs and resources, and presented at conferences all around the world. I was driven as an achiever. During this time I also raced at an elite, international level. I was the proverbial achiever, running as fast as I could... to get away from myself!

In 1995 I had a serious car accident, one month after winning the national championships in my sport (I was an elite runner and cyclist), I was told I would not walk again. And thus my personal journey of awakening began.
